Catherine teaches with a focus on the breath and softening the body.  This gentle approach is perfect for beginners and allows more experienced practitioners to move to the next level with greater awareness.

For Catherine, ashtanga yoga is about relaxing and finding core strength, both physically and mentally.  Practised over a long time, Catherine has found the practice to be deeply cleansing, energising and grounding.

Catherine has studied ashtanga yoga with Sri K Pattabhi Jois, his grandson Sharath Rangaswamy and their New Zealand students Mike Berghan and Peter Sanson.  Her own regular practice began in 2000, and has included extended periods of study in Mysore, India since 2004.  In March 2009, Catherine received the Sri K Pattabhi Jois Ashtanga Yoga Institute’s authorisation and blessing to teach.

In 2004 Catherine was introduced to the healing philosophy of ayurveda and in 2009 graduated from Wellpark College, Auckland with a Diploma in Ayurvedic Lifestyle Management.

Catherine hopes to offer a space for you to discover the benefits of yoga and ayurveda in your daily lives.
